Fireweed honey is light amber in color. Pure fireweed honey is almost clear, sometimes with a slight green tinge. Fireweed honey is named after the fireweed plant, which is a mountain wildflower that grows after wildfires. The seeds of the fireweed plant lie dormant in the soil until the land is burned, and then the flowers emerge. Beekeepers set their hives among the fireweed flowers to help pollinate them.
